Carnival
Cruise Line
Carnival Cruise Lines had its beginning in
1972 with only one ship, but today are self-proclaimed as the "Most
Popular Cruise Line in the World." Carnival currently has a fleet
of 23 ships, and plans to carry 3.3 million passengers this year. Their
ships employ about 33,000 men and women for onboard positions. Most of
the ship's officers (except pursers) are Italian, but the staff and crew
are a mix of Canadian, American and British.

Cruises was founded in 1989 by the Chandris Group, but merged with Royal
Caribbean International in 1997 to bring together two cruise lines under
one corporate name, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Celebrity Cruises is

Cruises
Crystal Cruises, considered a
luxury passenger cruise line, was founded in 1988 and is owned by Nippon
Yusen Kaisha, the largest shipping company in the world. NYK has its
headquarters in Tokyo, Japan and operates over 800 ships worldwide.

Samuel
Cunard formed Cunard Line in 1840 as the North American Royal Mail Steam
Packet Company. He began with four small ships and offered a regular
mail service across the

few to still offer Atlantic crossings.

America Line
Holland
America
was founded in 1873 as a shipping and passenger line, the
Netherlands-America Steamship Company. In 2003,
Holland

had its 130th anniversary in which they claimed to have
carried nearly 10 million passengers.

Princess Cruises began in 1965
with only one ship. Now they have grown to a fleet that carries over
800,000 passengers each year.

Seven Seas Cruises
Regent
Seven Seas Cruises (formerly Radisson Seven Seas Cruise) is owned by
Carlson Hospitality Worldwide. Regent Seven Seas Cruises promises their

ResidenSea
ResidenSea is the world's first
luxury resort community at sea. The World offers the choice to either
own a shipboard apartment starting at US$850,000 or simply enjoy a
vacation at sea. This ship entered service in 2002 and is crewed by
approximately 250 international seafarers.
Royal
Caribbean International
Founded
in 1969, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) is today one of the
industry giants. In August 1997, the company purchased Celebrity
Cruises. Celebrity remains a separate brand name and entity, maintaining
its own staff, marketing and sales operations.

Seabourn
Cruise Line
Founded
in 1987, Seabourn Cruise Line has established itself as an ultra luxury
cruise line. Seabourn's three ships visit some of the world's most
famous cities, as well as many unusual ports of call, many only offered
by Seabourn.
Silversea
Cruises
Silversea Cruises was founded in 1994 by the former owners of Sitmar
Cruises. They pledged to build and operate the highest quality ships in
the ultra-luxury market and named the company Silversea to imply
quality, luxury, romance and the special sensations of the sea.
Windstar
Cruises
Windstar Cruises was founded by the Anders family in the 1980's. At that
time, the Anders family was operating sightseeing boats touring
Manhattan and area. By the time the third ship came out, they had sold
their small cruise line to Holland America Line. Today, Windstar Cruises
operates three beautiful yachts that cater to travelers preferring the
intimacy of smaller ships.
